We're exited to announce that earlier this month we joined 1% for the planet - an organisation set up in 2002, by Yvon Chouinard, founder of Patagonia, and Craig Mathews, founder of Blue Ribbon Flies.

These two businessmen met and bonded over their shared love for the outdoors. Realising their responsibility to protect our planet, they decided to give 1% of their sales back to the environment—whether or not they were profitable.

Steve and I are both fans of the book, Let my people go surfingby Yvon Chouinard, which showed that it is possible to run a business differently and that you can balance doing good with profits. We've taken so much inspiration from reading it, including joining 1% for the planet as well as our drive to become a B Corp (more on that coming soon).

It's our love of the outdoors that inspired us to start Meander, creating clothes that are technical, versatile and good for all weather conditions, so you can get outside and enjoy it and we want to make ensure that we do the least possible damage to the planet as we build our brand. We believe in using high quality materials, using organic or recycled materials where possible and that all our goods are manufactured in ethical European factories.

Since our crowdfunding campaign we've offset our carbon emissions by planting trees in Scottish Woodland with Forest Carbon and joining 1% helps us to stay on the right path and give back to variety of environmental causes.

You can find out more about 1% for the planet here.

Thank you for joining us in doing our bit for the planet.
