Happy New Year!! We can’t believe a year has passed already since we last wrote our highlights but it has been an incredible year with so much packed in. It’s always a highlight to finally take a breather amongst all the chaos and reflect on the achievements that have taken place throughout the year. There have been some big changes, exciting collaborations, lots of product launches, inspiring articles written and a whole heap of fun along the way. We would love to say a big thank you to the Meander community for all the support this year and share some of our 2024 highlights with you all.

Copenhagen Fashion Week

A visit to Copenhagen during Fashion Week inspired new brands and more lines from existing brands that launched into our Edinburgh and London stores. We introduced a range of new accessories and footwear from brands including Merrell, Flower Mountain, Blundstones, Blunt umbrellas and much more. You guys couldn’t get enough of the Rue de Wool slippers that filled our Meander stores with lots of colour and, no doubt, made some epic Christmas gifts this year.

A Visit to our Knitwear Manufacturers in the Scottish Borders

After introducing the Made in Scotland knitwear range last year, we couldn’t wait for round two. We visited our factory which is based in Hawick in the Scottish Borders at the start of the year to begin the development process and were delighted to see the factory celebrating its 150th year anniversary! We’re proud to make our knitwear in Scotland and visiting them to work on new designs and developments is always fun. We brought back some of the firm favs from 2023 including the Fisherman Crew and Zigzag knit as well as introducing some new styles which became instant best-sellers.

We Joined Forces with Tens, Making Them a Part of the Meander Family

In June this year after much hush hush discussions we announced the merger between Meander and Tens. Having been huge fans of this awesome Scottish sunglass brand for many years we were very excited to bring them into the Meander family. Tens was started by three photographers and filmmakers, inspired on a road trip through the Scottish Highlands and when the opportunity arose to bring Tens on board we couldn’t resist. Surely two great Scottish brands inspired by travel and adventure are better than one :)

Tens and Meander still operate under their own brand identities however our teams have merged and the Meander team had a blast this year getting involved in all things Tens! Whilst it’s been a lot of work, it’s most certainly been double the fun! This year we’ll be introducing a brand new collection of Tens sunglasses and lenses which we can’t wait to share with you all. If you haven’t already then you can join the Tens community here to receive all Tens updates.

We Launched our Rewilding Collection with a Few Friends and a Film Screening

We launched our collaboration with SCOTLAND: The Big Picture and artist KMG (@kmgyeah) this summer. After working together for several months we introduced our graphic collection featuring artworks designed by KMG of animals related to the cause. Red squirrels who we currently have in our wilderness and must protect, Beavers who have lately been introduced back to the highlands, and the lynx who has the potential to return in the future.

10% of all purchases from the Meander Rewilding collection go towards aiding the mission at SBP and we launched the collection with a screening of their documentary, Why not Scotland?’ with drinks in-store with friends of Meander and from the SBP team.

Meander Stockbridge Store Expansion

We expanded! We brought in a lot of new products and brands this year and since new products require new space, we expanded our Stockbridge store in Edinburgh this summer. After a good few weeks of hard graft from Steve and some craftsmen too, our new downstairs space was open! Featuring a brilliant display for all our new Tens sunnies, as well as more space for introducing all our new brands and products.

We Visited our Outerwear Factory in Sofia

We went out for a visit to Sofia to catch up with the factory who have been manufacturing our outerwear since our launch in 2018! It’s always an inspiring experience to go and visit the factories and meet the craftsmen and women who produce the range. Based right outside the city centre of Sofia, the factory produces for brands all over the world! This year we travelled out to visit the factory and develop our new collection of Recycled Raincoats and Gilets. After several modifications, fit sessions and working with the craftspeople we were delighted with our latest edition. If you haven’t checked them out already then check out the new recycled raincoats that have just launched in a variety of new colours.

We Launched our Torridon Partnership

In October, we partnered with the Torridon hotel, a luxury hotel found in the Scottish Highlands. Having featured the Torridon in a couple of our Highland guides, we struck a partnership with the hotel and realised there’s no better home for our jackets and beanies than the same Scottish outdoors where they are tried and tested. If you go for a visit they might let you borrow one (and we can highly recommend a visit)! We hosted a brilliant competition that went down so well with the Meander folk that we can’t wait for more exciting collaborations in the future!

In November, Meander co-founders, Jill and Steve took a trip up to Torridon to see our Meander jackets ready and waiting for visitors arriving. On the drive through the highlands we got a lovely hello from the deer, stopped off to get some pics of the road looking down to loch Marie that inspired our squiggle logo, and soak up the lovely views we’re lucky enough to have on our doorstep.

Our Glendye Shoot

In October we headed to the stunning Glendye Cabins in Banchory, Aberdeenshire, and it was a blast! Glendye was such a unique spot with lots of charming quirks and features, making it a pretty perfect spot for our seasonal shoot. The autumnal colours were stunning and framed the pics for our autumn knitwear and brand-new raincoats. A special shoutout to our fab models, Nikki and Warren (and Ollie - the dog!), who made the trip so much fun, and a further shoutout to the Glendye team who welcomed us with open arms and made the experience an unforgettable one.

New Product Launches

This was a huge year for product launches and we had so much fun releasing them! After a long time with the sought-after Adventure Trouser, we expanded our trouser range with seven new products in a variety of colours. You guys are loving the new wide legs and the technical lightweight too.

We introduced new sweats, tees and shorts out this summer with our Recycled Resquiggle sweat and our Organic Lightweight sweats, as well as our Rewilding collection of tees and sweats.

Our Made in Scotland knitwear collection was a definite highlight, with new styles and colours introduced for 2024 as well as the classics brought back. New colours in the Classic Polo and Fisherman Crews, alongside the brand new Chunky Quarter zip and the Classic Crews for men and women became an instant best seller. We also introduced new beanie colours as well as the new bobble beanie too.

Products in the Wild

Releasing new products is fun, but seeing the Meander community love them is even more so, so thank you to everyone who has supported us this year and to those of you who have shared you wearing your products in the wild too! We love seeing those images!

Magazine Highlights

As always, we continued with our Meander Magazine throughout 2024; as always, it was a blast. From city guides and adventures to luxury stays, wildlife, and more; it’s been a jam-packed year. One of the main privileges of curating the Meander Magazine is the array of brilliant and inspiring people we get to engage with, talk to, and interview. This year, we’ve spoken to Sammi Kinghorn, Paralympian and Countryfile presenter, about her incredible journey and Paris Olympics preparation (Sammi went on to win gold!). We caught up with Joshua Adeyemi about his work as co-founder of Black Scottish Adventurers, a community interest company encouraging diversity in the outdoors. And as an adventure loving company, it was great to chat to Mark Agnew, European Adventurer of the Year 2023, to find out more about about his world record breaking adventures to becoming one of the first people to sail the Northwest Passage. We would love to say a special thanks to everyone who helped us by participating in the Meander Magazine this year and can’t wait to see what next year brings!

5 Years of Donations to 1% For the Planet

2024 marks five years of donations to 1% For The Planet for Meander! We're grateful to be a part of this amazing community and contribute to environmental charities including the Marine Conservation Society, Water Aid, RSPB, Scotland:The Big Picture, Surfers Against Sewage and the Woodland Trust. In 2024, the 1% For The Planet community drove $102 million in giving! We’re so proud to be part of it and we can't wait for all the additional impact to come!

We would like to say another huge thanks for all the support this year- we couldn't have done it without our Meanderer's. Keep tagging us on socials using #everydayadventures so we can see what you're all getting up to in 2025!
