Meander Picks: The Best Bags to Explore with in 2019


With the summer season almost upon us, we’re starting to think about travels, both big and small, city escapes, overnighters in the Scottish Highlands, days out hiking and biking!   With travel, comes packing and finding the perfect bag to take away with you.  Our design philosophy at Meander is always to create style and performance, in equal measure and without compromise.  This is something we want from the bags we take on our adventures too.  They must be stylish, comfortable, and of course, fit all the essentials.

The Sanction by Mission Workshop (20L):

The Kånken by Fjӓllrӓven (16L) :

 This Swedish outdoor firm was born from the idea of creating more a comfortable 'carrying system'. The Kånken, specifically, was created in 1978 to help prevent back problems among school children. The Wee Lug by Trakke (20L):

The Wee Lug is designed for the urban commuter by fellow Scottish brand, Trakke. Trakke hand make and test all their bags in Scotland. The lug has been refined and makes for an even more comfortable carry, you’ll find a double zip pocket on the either sides of the face, ideal to store any essentials that you’ll want quick access to. The interior organisation has been re-designed to include bottle pockets and a neater, easier access layout. Available in four colours. Tor by Sandqvist (22L):

The Sandqvist Tor, is a shoulder/messenger bag made from water resistant and super durable Cordura meaning it’ll have no issues dealing with some rough handling that in other bags may cause wear in tear. Porter by Osprey (30L):

It’s no surprise that Osprey have nailed it with their Porter 30. Founded in 1974, they come with over 40 years experience in creating functional products of the utmost quality. It’s worth mentioning the StraightJacket system, external foam “jackets” wrap around each side and connect via buckles and straps, a perk any traveller will appreciate. I know we said this list was about style and functionality and although style may be slightly out on this one, if travel features is what is most important to you, then be sure to pick up the Porter for your next trip away. Available in three colours each providing a different distinct appearance - Black, Miniral Teal and Castle Grey.






A simple and elegant backpack, the WANDRD PRVKE is designed by photographers for photographers. As expected, there is plenty of space in the bag for all your camera gear, however, the roll-top design will provide you with that additional wiggle room should you need and will give you roughly 5L extra capacity.
